Cricketer Gautam Gambhir has announced that his foundation will “take care of the entire education expenses of the children” of the 25 CRPF personnel who were killed in the Sukma attack earlier this week.
Gambhir’s media manager confirmed the news on 28 April, after the cricketer wrote in his column for Hindustan Times that the Gautam Gambhir Foundation had begun work in this regard.
“The Gautam Gambhir Foundation will take care of the entire education expenses of the children of these martyrs. My team has already started work on this and I shall soon share the progress we have made,” he said.
In the wake of the attack in Sukma on 24 April, said to be the deadliest Maoist attack on CRPF in seven years, Gambhir had tweeted:
The Gautam Gambhir-led Kolkata Knight Riders wore black arm bands during their IPL match against Rising Pune Supergiant on 26 April as a mark of respect to the CRPF martyrs.
