Former ED Joint Director JP Singh Arrested for Alleged Bribery

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday arrested a former joint director of the Enforcement Directorate, JP Singh, and three other officials in connection with a corruption case.

Singh has been accused of accepting a bribe while investigating the Indian Premiere League betting scandal as well as a Rs 5,000 crore money laundering case against an alleged hawala operator Afroz Fatta, Scroll reported.

The agency had registered the case against Singh in 2015 based on a complaint from the Finance Ministry.

One of the three ED officials has been identified as Sanjay Kumar, ANI reported.

The investigation agency also arrested IAS officer from Chhattisgarh BL Agarwal and two others, who are facing corruption charges.

BL Agrawal allegedly paid Rs 1.5 crore to private persons for settling two CBI cases registered against him.
