Fire broke out in Kolkata’s tallest high-rise, currently under construction, on Saturday evening around 5 pm. Three fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot, and no casualties were reported, according to ANI.

The fire reportedly broke out from the safety net in the eighth and ninth floors of the 63-storey structure, reported The Times of India.

Meanwhile, speaking to Hindustan Times, Jagmohan, Director of the fire department said the blaze was brought under control.

According to the daily, mayor Sovan Chatterjee, too, reached the location to monitor the situation.

“Welding work was going on to install outdoor units of airconditioner machines. Sparks from the welding might have triggered the fire. However the nets should have been made of fire proof material.”
