The father of the child infected with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) allegedly during treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has moved Gauhati High Court.

The plea entails that Dispur bear the expenses of the treatment of his son. The writ petition also requests the high court to constitute a court-monitored committee to probe the matter and punish the culprits at the earliest, reports The Telegraph.

We submitted the petition this morning. The parents of the unfortunate child have lost everything. The responsibility now lies with Dispur to provide them everything that would ensure a normal and dignified life for the victim. This would mean not just money but emotional, social and other support to ensure a dignified life for the child.

The victim is a son of a daily wage earner from Kamrup. He was admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) with 40 percent burn injuries in April 2015, and discharged the same year. However, in March 2016 he was admitted to the hospital again and found to be infected with HIV.
