Dharmapuri was witness to perhaps the first ever wedding in Tamil Nadu in which a family made its pet-dog pull the bride’s wedding cart.

Thangavelu, who is a milk-trader in Dharmapuri, loves his dog so much that he considers it a part of his family and business. Apparently, when Thangavelu is sick, he uses his dog to deliver milk to his customers.

Speaking to TNIE, Thangavel said:

Mani (his pet dog) is like my son. He has been part of my family for over five years. I decided to let him pull the wedding cart for my newly-wed daughter as I wanted him to be an integral part of this very special occasion. I don’t care if people poke fun at me. I wanted to show that my pet had a special place in my family and I did so by giving him a role in my daughter’s wedding.
