PM Narendra Modi will address three rallies on 14 April – one in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua, and two in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh and Muradabad, the BJP’s official Twitter handle said.
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh Saturday said with only 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state, it was impossible to accommodate all 177 aspirants. He said the decision to allot tickets was taken by the Congress high command based on candidates' winnability.
"Tickets were allotted to balance youth with experience," Singh told mediapersons after welcoming former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Chandan Garewal into the Congress.

The Bahujan Samaj Party released its fourth list of 16 candidates for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, ANI reported.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a public rally in Kathua, said, “I have seen powerful wave in favour of BJP this time.”
The BJP's sitting MP Pritam Munde and the NCP's Bajrang Sonawane might be pitted against each other in the Beed Lok Sabha seat, but on the ground, it is more a battle of one-upmanship between the district's guardian minister Pankaja Munde and her cousin and senior NCP leader Dhananjay Munde.
Dhananjay, who is the leader of opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, and Pankaja, Minister of Rural Development, Women and Child Welfare in the state government, have traded barbs over a host of governance issues, including alleged scams.
The BJP has released its 20th list of 6 candidates in Haryana, MP and Rajasthan for Lok Sabha Elections. Union Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh's son Brijendra Singh to contest from Hisar (Haryana). One candidate for by-election to Uluberia Purba assembly constituency (WB) has also been named.
Chaudhary Birender Singh has offered to resign from the cabinet and Rajya Sabha as his son Brijendra Singh gets ticket to contest Lok Sabha elections from Haryana's Hisar. He has submitted his resignation to BJP President Amit Shah.
Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja's sister Naynaba and his father, Anirudhsinh, have joined the Congress in Jamnagar in presence of Hardik Patel on Sunday, 14 April. Jadeja’s wife had joined the BJP a couple of months ago.
Actor Dharmendra reached Mathura, BJP MP Hema Malini’s parliamentary constituency, to campaign for her.
Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar said, “People are enthusiastic about Priyanka Gandhi. The day she enters electoral politics, people will welcome her. She will win wherever she will contest from.”
On alliance with the Congress, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “Will do anything to defeat Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.”
Holding a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh, PM Narendra Modi said, “It's strength of Babasaheb's Constitution that a gentleman from deprived and exploited class has become President. Someone from the village farmer family has been the Vice-President. This is the power of Babasaheb’s constitution that a chaiwala is sitting at the post of a prime minister today.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a roadshow in Bhubaneswar during his visit to Odisha on 16 April.
He is also scheduled to address two rallies in Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur on the same day.
Senior BJP leader and Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Sunday, 15 April, expressed confidence the Chennai-Salem expressway project will be implemented after discussions with farmers who are opposing acquisition of their land for it.
Addressing an election rally in Salem in support of the AIADMK-led alliance, he said the project, land acquisition process for which has been stayed by the Madras High Court recently, was important for development of the region.
"Today the matter is in the court and the Madras High Court has given a stay. But I am assuring you, whatever the rates for land acquisition we are giving, they are more. We have increased the rate, compared to today's value, our rates are high," Gadkari said.
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday, 14 April, said neither Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor any other NDA leader wanted to politicise armed forces and there was nothing wrong in talking about the political will giving freedom to the forces to take action as they deem fit.
At an informal interactive session with intellectuals, academicians and young thinkers here, she said the opposition had been constantly coming up with the allegation that armed forces were being politicised.
"Nobody wants to politicise the armed forces, not particularly myself or prime minister or anybody from here (government). We dont want to politicise the armed forces”, she said.
Attacking the anti-BJP alliance formed for the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, 14 April, said while people wanted to get rid of terrorism, those in the "maha milawat" wanted to remove him from power.
Addressing a poll rally in Aligarh, Modi asked the crowd, "Tell me whether terrorism should be eliminated or not, whether we should enter Pakistan and kill the terrorists, whether we should conduct surgical strikes and airstrikes, whether our jawans should get a free hand or not? Has your chowkidar done the right thing?" The crowd replied, "Yes."
The Election Commission flying squad in Mumbai seized Rs 50 lakh from a vehicle in the Tardeo area on Sunday. The amount was seized from one Prashant Samdani and the Income Tax department is looking into the matter.
