A 52-year-old doctor of a Centre-run hospital was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her residence in North Avenue area of Central Delhi.
The police confirmed that the woman, identified as Poonam Vohra, was a consultant Radiologist at Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, adding that a suicide note had been found- in which she had alleged harassment by three of her colleagues, The Times of India (TOI) reported.
DCP (North Delhi) Madhur Verma confirmed the incident to TOI and claimed that investigations into the case had been launched. He also said that the three colleagues, who had been mentioned in Vohra’s suicide letter, would be asked to join the investigations. Along with them, several senior officials of the hospital would also be questioned.
If the police find the note and the allegations it contained to be verified, then it could register an FIR under Section 306 (abatement to suicide) against the accused.
They also said that an autopsy would be performed to ascertain the exact cause of death. The police have also taken Vohra’s cellphone and analyzing it for possible leads, the report added.
