Decorated Hyderabad Cop Arrested For Demanding Bribe of Rs 2 Lacks

Awarded for promptly resolving cases, a decorated policeman from Hyderabad was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday, 23 October officials on extortion charges.

The accused – Sarangapani who was deployed at Mir Chowk police station was arrested for demanding a bribe of Rs 2,00,000, NDTV reported.

According to the reports, Sarangapani was investigating a complaint filed by one Anil Kumar who alleged that he was cheated by his best friend for stealing Rs 37 lakh in 2017.

After Sarangapani recovered the money, he demanded a bribe of Rs 2 lakhs from Anil Kumar to return the money to him.

The arrests were made after Sarangapani sent a junior Constable Kiran Kumar to collect the first installment of Rs. 50,000. Both Sarangapani and Constable Kumar have been arrested and produced before the ACB special court.
