1. Woman Jumps, Throws Kids Off Terrace in Delhi

The police is yet to find any lead in an incident where a 34-year old woman jumped off the terrace of a building after she threw her eight-year-old daughter and three-year-old son.

The police have not been able to make much foray into the case as the woman is still unconscious even as they have said that the woman's husband told them that they argued frequently.

A case of murder and attempt to suicide has been registered against the woman.

2. BSP Worker Shot Dead in Ghaziabad

A Bahujan Samaj Party worker was shot dead in Ghaziabad on Tuesday, 26 March.

In an incident, caught on camera, Shabbir Zaidi was shot dead by two men around 6:15 am, when the victim had gone out for a morning walk.

The two assailants, who were waiting in a car, fired six bullets into Zaidi's stomach and head. He was declared 'brought dead' after he was rushed to a hospital.

3. 14-Year-Old 'Mentally Unstable' Girl Gang-raped

A 14-year-old ‘mentally unstable’ girl was allegedly raped by three people in Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana and two of them were arrested on Tuesday, police said.

The three accused in their mid-20s allegedly kidnapped the victim from Manuguru town and took her to an isolated place on a bike and sexually assaulted her late Monday evening, the police said.

Her parents searched for her and some passersby told them that she was seen being taken on a bike. Later, the parents found the girl near the roadside bushes and lodged a complaint with police.

During the investigation, police nabbed two of the accused.

4. Former Block Chairperson Hacked to Death in Odisha

A former block chairperson, who had contested the last Assembly election, was hacked to death in Odisha's Keonjhar district, triggering tension in the area on Tuesday, police said.

Rama Chandra Behera, who had fought as an independent candidate from Ghasipura Assembly seat in 2014 polls, died after being attacked near his house at village Dhakotha late on Monday night.

The assailants fled when Behera shouted for help and his family members and neighbours rushed to the spot.

Behera was taken to the sub-divisional hospital in Anandpur and later referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to Cuttack, police said.

5. Extortion Racket Run By Delhi Jail Inmate Busted

The Delhi Police Special Cell on Tuesday claimed to have busted an extortion racket being run from inside Mandoli prison in Delhi with the arrest of two henchmen of Khoda Gang.

On the direction of the gang leader lodged in prison, the accused had planned a spate of murders to stamp supremacy in Ghaziabad's Khoda Colony, they said.

The accused have been identified as Bal Kishan, a resident of Trilok Puri, and Mohammad Ateek, a resident of Khoda colony in Ghaziabad. They are the henchmen of Khoda Gang leader Chanderbhan, police said.

"With the arrest of Bal Kishan and Mohammad Ateek of Khoda gang, the police busted the extortion racket being operated from Mandoli prison in the national capital," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah said.

6. Four Arrested at Delhi Airport for Smuggling Forex

Four persons, including two women were arrested by custom officials on Tuesday, 26 March, for allegedly trying to smuggle out foreign currencies worth Rs 70 lakh at Delhi airport.

The accused, including a couple, were intercepted when they were proceeding to board a flight to Dubai on Sunday, a statement issued by the customs department on Tuesday said.

A detailed personal and baggage search of the accused resulted in the recovery of foreign currencies – Euro, USD and UAE Dirham – equivalent to Rs 70.06 lakh, the statement said.

7. Two Arrested in Hyderabad for Cyber Fraud

The cyber crime police in Hyderabad arrested two people for allegedly siphoning off Rs 3.68 lakh from a bank account by swapping SIM cards.

Complainant Saranga Sandhya came to know about the fraud after she noticed unauthorised transactions from her husband's account, when she went to the bank.

The police has arrested the duo of Muthoju Satyanarayana (48), a former colleague of Sandhya's husband and his aide Perumalla Sri Durga Krishna Prasad (36).

Police arrested the duo and recovered the whole amount from their possession and booked them for cheating and cheating by impersonation cases apart from relevant sections under the IT act.

8. Sham Marriage Gang Busted, 5 Held

Police have busted a gang of cheats who used to arrange sham marriages to blackmail and dupe innocent youngsters in Fatehgarh Sahib district in Punjab.

Police have also recovered Rs 15,000 from the five accused identified as Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha, Sohan Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Sarbjit Kaur and Kiranjot Kaur.

Police said that two other members of the gang namely Kuldeep Kaur and Mohar Singh were absconding.

SSP Amneet Kondal said that the fraud was unearthed after one Harpreet Singh, a resident of Jhampur village complained to the police that some people were blackmailing him on the pretext of registering fake rape or dowry case after his wife left him.

Kondal said that after conducting an enquiry, police arrested five persons.

9. Woman Dies After Being Hit By Car

A 47-year-old woman died after being hit by a four-wheeler and dragged for several metres in southwest Delhi’s Kapashera, police said.

The woman, identified as Nina, was riding pillion on the motorcycle being driven by her son, when the accused allegedly hit their vehicle and tried to flee the spot.

In the attempt, he allegedly dragged the woman, who had fallen off the bike, several metres before bringing the vehicle to a halt, said police.

The woman was taken to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries, said police.

The driver, Jeetu, has been arrested, added police.
