COVID: 3.33 L New Cases Reported; Vice President Venkaiah Naidu Tests Positive

India on Sunday, 23 January, recorded 3,33,533 new COVID-19 cases – a small dip from Saturday's 3.37 lakh cases – taking the active caseload to 21,87,205. A total of 488 deaths were also reported.
While the positivity rate has increased to 17.78 percent, the country has confirmed 10,050 Omicron cases so far.
Meanwhile, Delhi on Sunday reported 9,197 new COVID-19 cases, while Mumbai reported 2,5550 fresh COVID-19 cases.
India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 161.92 crore people till Sunday.
India has administered over 80 lakh doses of the COVID-19 vaccine's booster dose since 10 January.

Mizoram Reports 1,285 New Cases
Mizoram reported 1,285 new cases and one death on Sunday. The number of active cases is currently at 9,845.

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu Tests COVID Positive
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, 23 January.
"The Vice President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, who is in Hyderabad, tested COVID positive today. He has decided to remain in self-isolation for a week. He has advised all those who came in contact with him to isolate themselves and get tested," the official Twitter account of the Vice President of India said.
875 People Have Tested Positive for COVID-19 in Parliament House So Far
A total of 875 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Parliament House complex so far. These include 271 people in the Rajya Sabha Secretariat.

Delhi reported 9,197 new COVID-19 cases, 13,510 recoveries and 34 deaths in the last 24 hours. Active cases in the national capital currently stand at 54,246.

Karnataka Reports 50,210 New COVID-19 Cases
Karnataka reported 50,210 new COVID-19 cases, 22, 842 recoveries, and 19 deaths in the last 24 hours. Active cases in the state currently at 3,57,796, with the positivity rate being at 22.77%.
Himachal Pradesh Reports 755 New Cases
Himachal Pradesh reported 755 new COVID-19 cases, 1,227 recoveries and two deaths in the last 24 hours. Active cases in the state stand at 16,821.

J&K Reports 6,253 New Cases
Jammu and Kashmir reported 6,253 new COVID cases, 1,754 in Jammu and 4,499 in Kashmir and 7 deaths on Sunday, 23 January. The total number of active cases in the UT stand at 42,866.

Gujarat Logs 16,617 New COVID-19 Cases
Gujarat reported 16,617 new cases of COVID-19 and 19 deaths in the last 24 hours. Active cases in the state stand at 1,34,837.
Assam Reports 2,277 New COVID Cases
Assam reported 2,277 fresh COVID-19 infections and 13 deaths on Sunday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed. "Today's test positivity rate is at 12.57% and recovery rate stands at 92.57%," he added.
Maharashtra Logs 40,805 Fresh COVID Cases
Maharashtra reported 40,805 new cases on Sunday. Active cases in the State rose to 2,93,305.
West Bengal Reports 6,980 New COVID-19 Cases
West Bengal recorded 6,980 new COVID19 cases and 36 deaths on Sunday. Active cases in the State stand at 1,10,183. Sunday’s positivity rate stands at 9.53%.
