The Karnataka government has decided to implement a full lockdown in the state every Sunday starting 5 July. The decision was taken in a meeting convened by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Saturday, 27 June.

The government has further decided to alter the night curfew timings to 8 pm-5 am from 29 June. The decision comes in the backdrop of the rising number of coronavirus cases in the state.

India's case tally on Saturday crossed the 5 lakh-mark as the country reported the highest single-day spike of 18,552 new COVID-19 cases and 384 deaths.

BMC To Adapt New System of Reporting COVID-19 Deaths

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will adapt a new system of reporting COVID-19 deaths from 1 July.

“There will be a new system of reporting COVID-19 deaths on a Google Form from 01.07.2020. Nodal Officers of the Hospital are directed to ensure death reporting within 48 hours from their hospitals from 01.07.2020 onwards,” the BMC said in a notification, as quoted by ANI.

Total 79,96,707 Samples Tested Till 26 June: ICMR

Total number of samples tested up to 26 June is 79,96,707, including 2,20,479 samples tested on 26 June, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) stated, as quoted by ANI.

43 New Cases in BSF

At least 43 new COVID-19 positive cases reported in the last 24 hours taking the total number of cases in BSF to 911. Total 633 BSF personnel have been cured and discharged so far.

India’s COVID Tally crosses 5-Lakh Mark, Death Toll at 15,685

India crossed the 5 lakh mark as it reported the highest single-day spike of 18,552 new COVID-19 cases and 384 deaths.

Positive cases in India now stand at 5,08,953 including 1,97,387 active cases, 2,95,881 cured/discharged/migrated and 15,685 deaths.

CM Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter to announce that highest number of tests at 21,144 were conducted in Delhi on Friday.

India's Recovery Rate is Rising, India at better Position Due to Lockdown: PM

PM Modi on Saturday said that India is in a better position to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic due to the lockdown and that India’s recovery rate is on the rise.

“Earlier this year, some people had predicted that the impact of the virus in India would be very severe. Due to lockdown, many initiatives taken by the Government and a people-driven fight, India is much better placed than many other nations. India's recovery rate is rising,” he said.

127 New Cases in Rajasthan

Rajasthan reported 127 new COVID-19 positive cases and nine deaths today, taking the total number of positive cases and deaths to 16,787 and 389 respectively. Active cases rise to 3249.

Harsh Vardhan Chairs GoM Meet

Group of Ministers (GoM) meeting under the chairmanship of Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on COVID-19 was held through video conferencing. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri were also present.

9 New Cases in Himachal

With a spike of nine COVID-19 positive cases, total number of COVID-19 cases in Himachal Pradesh rise to 873 including 358 active cases, 495 recoveries and 7 deaths, ANI reported quoting State Health Department.

India's Recovery Rate Over 58%: Health Minister

Health Minister Harsh vardhan said that India’s recovery rate has gone over 58%.

“Our recovery rate has gone above 58% and around 3 lakh people have recovered from COVID-19. Our mortality/fatality rate is near 3% which is very less. Our doubling rate has come down to near 19 days, which was 3 days before the lockdown,” he said, as quoted by ANI.

796 New Cases in Andhra Pradesh

In the last 24 hours, 796 new COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths have been reported in Andhra Pradesh. Total number of positive cases stand at 12,285 including 6,648 active cases and 157 deaths, ANI reported quoting the Nodal Officer.

Lockdown on Sundays to Remain Suspended in Kerala

Kerala government has issued an order that lockdown on Sundays will remain suspended until further orders. Night curfew from 9pm to 5 am shall continue on all days including Sundays.

607 New Cases in UP

In the last 24 hours, 607 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in the state. There are 6,684 active cases, 14,215 patients have been discharged so far and 649 patients have succumbed to the infection, ANI reported quoting Uttar Pradesh Principal Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad.

Rise in India Not As High As Other Countries: AIIMS Director

Randeep Guleria, AIIMS Director told ANI that rise in COVID-19 cases in India is not as high compared to other countries.

“Rise in cases in India is still not as high as compared to other countries. In US, there have been almost 40,000 cases per day in last two days,our numbers aren't that high. Cases per million population continue to be low and we still have low mortality rate,” he said.

COVID-19 Recovery Rate Stands at 58.13%: Health Ministry

According to the health ministry, the number of recovered cases have exceeded the active cases and the recovery rate stand stands at 58.13 percent.

3,713 Cases Reported in Tamil Nadu in a Day

Tamil Nadu reported 3,713 cases of coronavirus, the highest single day spike, in the state. Of these cases, 1,939 cases are from Chennai.

Lockdown in Karnataka Every Sunday

The Karnataka government has decided to impose a full lockdown in the state every Sunday starting 5 July. The decision which was taken in the meeting convened by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa in which it was also decided to alter the night curfew timing from the existing 9 pm-5 am to 8 pm-5 am starting 29 June.
