Mizoram has extended the lockdown till 31 May to check spread of coronavirus, PTI reported on Friday, 15 May, quoting an official.

In her third consecutive press briefing, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman laid down the third tranche of the 20 lakh crore economic package announced under ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ for agriculture, dairy, animal husbandry, fisheries and other allied activities on Friday.

The number of coronavirus cases in India rose to 81,970 on Friday. According to the Health Ministry data, there are now 51,401 active cases across the country, while 2,649 people have died. As many as 27,919 patients have been cured or discharged and one has migrated.

US Records 1,754 Coronavirus Deaths in 24 Hours

The United States has recorded 1,754 coronavirus deaths in 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 85,813, AFP reported on Thursday, citing the Johns Hopkins University tracker. There are over 1.4 million cases across the country.

COVID-19: India’s Case Tally Rises by 3,967 to 81,970; 2,649 Deaths

The number of coronavirus cases in India rose to 81,970 on Friday. According to the Health Ministry data, there are now 51,401 active cases across the country, while 2,649 people have died. As many as 27,919 patients have been cured or discharged and one has migrated.

In the last 24 hours, 3,967 new cases and 100 deaths have been recorded.

Focus of Third Leg of Economic Package on Agriculture, Animal Husbandry: FM

“Today's announcements will focus on agriculture, animal husbandry and allied activities,” said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in press conference.

She dded, “I will be announcing 11 measures today, of which 8 of them relate to strengthening infrastructure, capacities and building better logistics, while the rest 3 will pertain to governance and administrative reforms.”

Sitharaman said, “Government to immediately create a Rs 1 lakh crore Agri-Infrastructure Fund for farm gate infrastructure for farmers.”

Rs 10,000 crores scheme for the formalisation of Micro Food Enterprises (MFE) has been announced. The scheme promotes PM's vision of 'Vocal for Local with global outreach,’ the FM said.

She also announced that Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund of Rs 15,000 crores will be set up.

Uttarakhand Reports 1 More Death; Case Tally at 79

One more person tests positive for COVID-19 in Uttarakhand, number of cases in the state rises to 79, reports PTI.

2 More Test Positive in Jharkhand; State's Tally at 205

“Two more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Jharkhand, taking the total number of cases to 205,” said Nitin Madan Kulkarni, State Health Secretary, reports ANI.

16 New Cases in Kerala; 80 Active Cases in the State

“Sixteen new positive COVID-19 cases reported in state today, taking the total number of cases to 576 and active cases to 80,” said Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, reports ANI.

Tamil Nadu Reports 447 New Cases Today

“447 new cases of COVID-19 and 2 deaths have been reported in Tamil Nadu today, taking the total number of cases to 9,674 and deaths to 66. Number of active COVID-19 patients stands at 7,365,” the Tamil Nadu Health Department said.

30 Fresh Cases Reported in Jammu and Kashmir

The Jammu and Kashmir Government said, “30 new #COVID-19 positive cases reported in Jammu and Kashmir — 9 from Jammu division and 21 from Kashmir division. Total number of cases in the Union Territory is now at 1,013, including 489 active cases, 513 recovered and 11 deaths,” reports ANI.

“Kargil is COVID-19 free,” said Rigzin Samphel, Commissioner/Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Union Territory of Ladakh.

Total 82 Cases in Uttarakhand, 30 Active

“Total number of positive COVID-19 cases reaches 82 in Uttarakhand, of which 30 are active cases,” the state Health Department said, reports ANI.

84 New COVID-19 Cases in Mumbai's Dharavi Today

“Eighty-four new COVID-19 positive cases reported in Mumbai's Dharavi taking the total number of cases in the area to 1,145. No new death recorded today; death toll stands at 53 in Dharavi,” the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said, reports ANI.

Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla has written to Chief Secretaries of all states and UTs to ensure that there is no movement of migrant workers on roads and railway tracks, and facilitate their movement through special buses or Shramik special trains.

Kejriwal Writes to PM Modi

There should not be any relaxation in containment zones but economic activities should be resumed in other parts, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal wrote to PM Modi in a letter.

“This may lead to increase in COVID-19 cases, we have all arrangements in place to deal with it,” he said.
