38,902 New COVID Cases Take India’s Tally to 10.7 L; 26,816 Deaths

The number of coronavirus cases in India rose by 38,902, the highest single-day spike in the last 24 hours, said the Union Health Ministry on Sunday, 19 July, while the death toll increased by 543.

At present, there are 3,73,379 active cases in the country. A total of 10,77,618 were infected in India and 26,816 deaths recorded overall.

193 Fresh Cases In Rajasthan

At least 193 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths have been reported in Rajasthan till 10:30 am on Sunday, 19 July, taking total cases to 28,693. This includes 21,266 recoveries and 556 deaths, the Rajasthan State Health Department said, reported ANI.

Puducherry Cases Up by 109

Puducherry Health Department said that the Union Territory recorded 109 new cases taking its tally to 1,999, including 1,154 discharges and 28 deaths.

Rahul Accuses BJP of "Misreporting Deaths"

In a tweet Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused BJP of "restricting testing and misreporting deaths."

Case Fatality Rate at 2.49% in India

The Case Fatality Rate in India is progressively falling and is one of the lowest in the world. Currently, it stands at 2.49 percent, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in a press release.

Coronavirus Deaths Worldwide Cross 6,00,000

The worldwide death toll from the coronavirus has hit 601,213, according to the Johns Hopkins University, with the US topping the list with 140,000 deaths as recorded on 18 July.

Uttar Pradesh Reports 2,250 New Cases

2,250 new COVID19 positive cases were reported in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours. The total active cases now stand at 18,256 in the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with the Chief Ministers of seven states over phone, here on Sunday, about "situation" in their states.

These Chief Ministers are Nitish Kumar (Bihar), Sarbananda Sonowal (Assam), Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy (Andhra Pradesh), K. Chandrasekhar Rao (Telangana), O. Pareerselvam (Tamil Nadu), Jai Ram Thakur (Himachal Pradesh) and Trivendra Singh Rawat (Uttarakhand).
