Health minister of National Capital, Satyendra Jain, along with MLA Atishi and two more AAP members have tested positive for COVID-19, on Wednesday, 17 June.

The number of coronavirus cases in India rose by 10,974 to 3,54,065 on Wednesday, 17 June, while 2,003 new reported fatalities took the death toll to 11,903. According to the Health Ministry data, there are now 1,55,227 active cases across the country, while 1,86,934 patients have been cured or discharged.

The huge spike in the number of deaths comes as states have updated their respective figures. The Health Ministry has said that the data on the website is based on entry by the states, with Delhi and Maharashtra having reconciled data from previous days.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday interacted with the chief ministers of states badly hit by the outbreak. On Tuesday, the PM had interacted with CMs of states and Union territories whose case load is relatively less.

16,618 Test Samples Collected on 15-16 June in Delhi: MHA

MHA on Wednesday said 16,618 test samples were collected on 15-16 June in Delhi after decisions taken by Amit Shah to double the testing.

"Reports of 6,510 tests received so far, remaining to be received by 18 June," added MHA.
