India's coronavirus case tally on Wednesday, 27 May, reached at 1,51,767, said Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, with 6,387 fresh cases were reported in 24 hours. The death toll stands at 4,337, while active number of cases in the country are at 83,004, and as many as 64,425 have recovered or have been cured.
With 792 cases in last 24 hours, Delhi marked the highest single-day rise in COVID-19 cases. Total tally in the National Capital stands at 15,257.
For the third day in a row, the United States recorded less than 700 new coronavirus deaths, news agency AFP reported on Wednesday, citing the Johns Hopkins University tracker. The overall death toll in the country now stands at 98,875.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Mumbai said, “18 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Mumbai's Dharavi area today. The total number of positive cases in Dharavi rises to 1639, the death toll stands at 61.”
"Two hundred and sixty-nine new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Uttar Pradesh today; taking the total number of cases in the state to 6,991. Death toll stands at 182,” said the Directorate of Health Services, Uttar Pradesh, reports ANI.
“With 376 new cases, COVID-19 tally rises to 15,205 in Gujarat; 23 more deaths take toll to 938,” the Health official said.
“One hundred and eighty-three new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in West Bengal today. The total number of cases in the state is now at 4,192,” the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, reports ANI.
Punjab Chief Minister's Office said, “Captain Amarinder Singh will chair a review meeting with the concerned departments on the overall COVID-19 situation in the state on 30 May and announce the government’s decision on lifting or further extension of lockdown thereafter.”
“One more case of COVID-19 reports positive in Ladakh. With this, the number of active cases in Ladakh rises to 11 with 2 cases in Leh and 9 in Kargil district,” said Department of Information and Public Relations, Ladakh
“COVID-19 cases in Mumbai's Dharavi go up by 18 to 1,639; no death due to infection reported there in last 24 hours,” PTI reports quoting an official.
Manipur detected five new positive cases of COVID-19 today. Total number of positive cases rise to 44 in the state, including 40 active cases, says the Government of Manipur, according to PTI.
As many as 817 people test positive for coronavirus, the highest single day increase in Tamil Nadu, pushing the tally to 18,545 cases; Six more fatalities reported, toll now 133, says the government, reports PTI.
In Maharashtra, a one-month-old infant was discharged from Mumbai's Sion Hospital today after recovering from COVID-19.
“Over 3,500 Shramik special trains have been originated till now by Indian Railways carrying more than 48 lakhs passengers. Nearly 80 percent of total Shramik trains are destined for various destinations in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar,” the Ministry of Railways said.
“Total COVID-19 cases in Himachal Pradesh now stand at 251, including 177 active cases, 65 recovered patients and five deaths,” the State Health Department, reports ANI.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said, “40 new COVID-19 cases reported in the state today. Of these, nine returned from abroad, 16 returned from Maharashtra, five from Tamil Nadu and three from Delhi. The total number of positive cases in the state are 1,004, of which 445 are active cases,” reports ANI.
“With people returning to the state, Kerala has entered the next phase of COVID-19 prevention and containment. There is a spike in the number of cases,”he added.
"Ten new cases of COVID-19 reported. Total cases 714, including 62 recovered, four deaths and three migrated,” said Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“Railways running special trains for migrant workers according to its whims and conditions,” said West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
She added, “Bengal facing major disaster (post Amphan) and railways sending Shramik trains every day. It will lead to spike in COVID-19 cases.”
“Those without masks will be fined Rs 500 and those spitting in public will also be fined Rs 500,” said Haryana Health Minister, Anil Vij.
“Another 79 COVID-19 patients have recovered and are being discharged. The total recovered cases of Odisha now stand at 812,” said Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Odisha, reports ANI.
Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi said, “1,337 trains have arrived in UP carrying migrants from various states. Gorakhpur is the first district in country where more than 200 trains have arrived and it has received 2,00,077 passengers so far. Eighty-nine trains have reached Lucknow.”
“Our airports handled 445 flights carrying 62,641 flyers on Tuesday,” said Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, reports PTI.
“We maintain the need for a COVID negative certificate and a compulsory COVID test. The 14-day home quarantine option will be no longer available. Either, you bring the negative certificate or have to take the test,” said Goa CM Pramod Sawant on all persons entering the state.
Social distancing norms violated during Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar's visit to Sheopur district in MP on Tuesday, ANI reports.

India-China border trade which used to take place every year from 1 June through Lipulekh Pass in Pithoragarh, will not take place this year due to COVID-19, ANI reports.
"Trade used to happen during Mansarovar Yatra, but this time it's not happening," ANI quoted Pithoragarh District Magistrate.
"We are going to open temples, mosques and churches in the state after 31 May," ANI quoted Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa as saying.
ICMR writes to states/UTs on strategy for COVID-19 testing and firming up price for RT-PCR test through private labs, reports ANI.
"Earlier suggested upper ceiling for Rs 4,500 may not be applicable now and all state govts/UTs to negotiate with pvt labs and fix mutually agreeable prices for testing," says ICMR.
30 people have been tested positive for COVID19, ANI quoted Harish Thapliyal, Public Relation Officer, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh as saying.
The total number of COVID-19 positive patients in Uttarakhand now stands at 431.
"3393 Indians return on 19 flights from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bahrain, Manila, Cebu, Vancouver, Tel Aviv, Singapore, Birmingham, New York, Moscow, Karaganda, Bishkek and Minsk on 26 May," says Hardeep Singh Puri, Civil Aviation Minister.
To prevent the spread of coronavirus, Germany extends social distancing rules until 29 June, ANI reports.
The country has reported over 1.8 lakh cases so far and 8,400 deaths.
