India on Thursday, 11 June, reported the highest single-day spike of 9,996 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally in the country to 2,86,579. As many as 357 fatalities in the last 24 hours took the death toll to 8,102. According to the Health Ministry data, there are 1,37,448 active cases across the country, while 1,41,028 patients have been cured or discharged.
Maharashtra on Thursday reported the biggest one-day rise of COVID-19 cases, with 3,607 new infections taking the tally in the state to 97,648. Delhi too reported the highest single-day spike, with 1,877 new infections taking the total number of cases to 34,687.
Meanwhile, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Director General Balram Bhargava, in a press briefing on Thursday, said the country is not in community transmission stage of COVID-19. "India is such a large country and prevalence is very low. India is not in community transmission stage," he was quoted as saying.

“Mexico COVID-19 death toll passes 15,000,” the Mexico government stated, reported news agency AFP.
Maharashtra on Wednesday, 10 June, reported 3,254 new coronavirus cases, taking the state’s overall count to 94,041. The number of fatalities rose to 3,438 with 149 new deaths. This was the biggest single-day increase in cases for the state.

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said, “52,13,140 samples tested till 11 June, 9 AM. 1,51,808 samples tested in last 24 hours,” reports ANI.
Rajasthan health department said, “51 COVID-19 positive cases and 5 deaths in Rajasthan till 10:30 am today; 27 people recovered from the disease and 26 discharged during this period. Total number of positive cases in the state rises to 11,651, including 264 deaths, 8,596 recovered and 8,221 discharged.”
In Delhi, a Chief Medical Officer of CRPF has tested positive for COVID-19. The CMO has been shifted to a private hospital in Okhla. Total positive cases in CRPF now stands at 544, out of which 353 have recovered and 4 died.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “In last 5-6 yrs India's goal of self-reliance has been paramount in policy, practice; COVID crisis gave lesson on how to speed up efforts.”
Supreme Court took suo moto cognisance of report that 35 children in a government-run home in Royapuram, Chennai, have tested positive for COVID-19 and sought status report from Tamil Nadu government regarding spread of coronavirus in shelter homes and steps taken to safeguard children.
A special flight arranged by actor Amitabh Bachchan to ferry 180 migrants from Mumbai landed at the Lucknow airport on Thursday morning, reports ANI.
Himachal Health Department said, “The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Himachal Pradesh is 458 now including 182 active cases, 259 recovered and six deaths.”
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain saif, “42 laboratories are functional in Delhi. Seven of them were stopped for 2-3 days as they were delaying test results. All labs have to give test results within 24 hours.”
Imphal's total number of COVID-19 cases reaches 342 with 31 new cases. Number of active patients stands at 279, reports ANI.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said, “There is no community spread in Tamil Nadu till now. Coronavirus has been curtailed in many districts of the state. Since Chennai is densely populated the spread of the virus is relatively more in the city.”
“We don't hide the number of deaths, we won't gain anything if we do that,” he added.
Telangana Junior Doctors Association said they will continue strike at Hyderabad's Gandhi Hospital which started after an alleged attack on a doctor by a relative of a COVID-19 patient, reports ANI.

Giving details about the sero-survey, the ICMR said it shows that the nationwide lockdown and containment measures were successful in keeping the COVID-19 spread in check, reported PTI.
However, large part of the the population is still susceptible to COVID-19 as per the survey, the ICMR added.
“The states cannot lower their guard and need to keep on implementing effective surveillance and containment strategies preventing the spread of COVID19,” the ICMR added.
The ICMR also pointed out that India's cases per lakh population (20.77), as well as mortality per lakh population (0.59), were among the lowest in the world.
The recovery rate in the country stands at 49.21 percent, Health Ministry representative Lav Agarwal said at the briefing, with the number of patients recovered exceeding the number of active cases.
Uttar Pradesh on Thursday reported 478 new COVID-19 cases and 24 deaths, taking the state's tally to 12,088 and the death toll to 345.
While religious placed were permitted to reopen from 8 June under the Centre's 'Unlock 1' guidelines, the shahi imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid said on Thursday that no congregational prayers will be performed at Jama Masjid till 30 June, reported ANI.
