Battle lines are being drawn and alliances are being forged, with the general elections just around the corner. The Congress on Thursday, 7 February, sealed an alliance for both the general and Assembly elections with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in Jharkhand, reported ANI.

The JMM shared the picture of Hemant Soren along with Rahul Gandhi, announcing the alliance.

Apart from JMM, Former Jharkhand CM Babulal Marandi’s JVM and RJD will be part of the alliance with Congress, reported CNN-News18.

JMM is expected to get a huge share of seats in the Assembly elections, while Congress is expected to get a lion’s share of seats in the Lok Sabha elections.

Of the three bypolls held in Jharkhand this year, JMM won two, while Congress bagged one. With an eye on the Lok Sabha elections, Congress has pegged its hopes on the alliance with regional players, in order to defeat Raghubar Das-led BJP in the state.
