4 Hurt After Communal Clashes in Ranchi Over ‘Objectionable’ Song

There were clashes in Bokaro as well after the head of a bovine was found at the door of a house in Saudagar area.

Communal tensions bubbled over in Ranchi on Tuesday after members of two communities clashed over an ‘objectionable’ song. Four individuals were also injured during the incident.

A Scroll report said that a procession was taken out by the members of Bajrang Dal on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti and while passing a mosque, the allegedly played an ‘objectionable’ song on their loudspeaker.

Soon, members of both communities began raising slogans and the situation turned violent. Police was soon rushed to the spot.

Hundreds of people continued the protest by blocking roads. Police used tear gas shells and resorted to lathi charge to disperse the mob.

By evening, the situation was under control but tense. Shops were closed in Main Road area – the business hub of the city.

In Bokaro, too, a clash broke out after the head of a bovine was found at the door of a house in Saudagar area. The DSP of Bermo RK Mehta fractured his arm while trying to resolve the issue.
