During a hearing in the Cauvery river water contention between the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka governments, the Supreme Court said on Friday , “Live and Let Live principle should be kept in mind. Both states should live in harmony.”
The Tamil Nadu government had filed a plea asking for a direction to Bengaluru to release 50.052 tmcft (thousand million cubic feet) of Cauvery water to feed agricultural lands. The Karnataka government replied to this on Friday saying that it is in deficit and hence cannot provide water.
The hearing in the case has been adjourned till Monday and the apex court will look into the matter to decide on Tamil Nadu’s plea.
