As buses were torched, schools were shut and vehicles were set ablaze, Bengaluru came to a standstill on Monday.

The Tamil Nadu-Karnataka dispute over Cauvery river worsened, as the Silicon Valley of the country burnt. Pro-Kannada activists protested on the streets even as the Supreme Court ordered the Karnataka government to release 12,000 cusecs of Cauvery water, instead of the earlier order to release 15,000 cusecs.

Can the city escape the mindless violence it has been gripped in?
