At least eight people were killed and three left injured in an explosion in a firecracker factory in Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun district, news agency ANI reported.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, in an interview to ANI, said the explosion was an accident, and that action will be taken if negligence is found in the matter.

“It was an accident. Guidelines were already issued to district administration to take precautions till Diwali. Rescue works are underway. Report has been sought from administration, and action will be taken if negligence is found”
Yogi Adityanath told ANI.

The reason behind the blast has not been ascertained yet.
