1. No Relief for Shivakumar as ED Court Extends Judicial Custody
A special Enforcement Directorate court in Delhi court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of former Karnataka Congress minister DK Shivakumar extended the judicial custody till 25 October in connection with an alleged money laundering case. Subsequently in the day, the Delhi High Court also adjourned his bail plea till 17 October.
Shivakumar, who is a former Water Resources and Power Minister in the state, was produced before a special judge at the Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday as his judicial custody ended on Tuesday.
This means the senior Congress leader in Karnataka will remain in Tihar jail, where he has been lodged since 3 September after he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate. While his police (ED) custody ended on 19 September, he has been remanded to judicial custody since then.

2. Anti-Siddaramaiah Camp Gives Truce Meeting the Slip
Congress leaders opposed to Legislature Party Leader Siddaramaiah were conspicuous by their absence at a meeting called by AICC general secretary and Karnataka in-charge KC Venugopal to secure a “compromise” between the former chief minister’s camp and “original Congressmen” in the party.
The absence is being perceived as continued opposition to Siddaramaiah being named leader of the opposition. They say he was chosen against the “advice” of senior leaders in the state unit.
Sources say barring Siddaramaiah and his “boys” — including MLC Rizwan Arshad and Krishna Byregowda — no other senior leader including HK Patil, BK Hariprasad, KH Muniyappa attended the meeting.

3. HAL Strike Continues as Management and Workers Refuse to Budge on Wage Revision
The stalemate between workers and management of public sector unit, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is likely to be prolonged as both sides have refused to soften its stand on the contentious wage revision issue affecting production at India’s largest aircraft maker. The strike is one of the biggest in the history of the 79-year-old company that last saw such disruption to production in 1981.
Bengaluru-headquartered HAL’s management remains steadfast that its offer is fair and in line with making the company more cost effective and competitive in the future while the employees argue that the aircraft maker continues to discriminate between executives and workers.

4. City Police to Have ATS to Deal With Terror Cases
A day after the NIA announced the presence of Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in several states, including Karnataka, Home Minister Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced that a special anti terrorist squad will be set up for the city.
Speaking to the media after a review meeting on Tuesday, Bommai said that after the arrests of JMB terrorists, officials across the State have been on high alert especially in the city and coastal areas.
The NIA had earlier stated that after the JMB module had been busted, officials learnt during investigations that its operatives were setting up sleeper cells in and around the State with plans to carry out subversive activities.

5. B’luru Security Firm MD Arrested For Filming Assault on Two Employees
Bengaluru Police on Tuesday, 15 October, arrested the managing director of a private security firm after videos of him brutally assaulting two of his employees surfaced on social media.
In the viral video clips, the suspect, Salim Khan, can be seen standing on the neck of one of the men as the latter begs him to let him go.
The videos also show Khan stomping on the head of one of the men multiple times and jumping on the other’s chest. The incident took place on Monday.
