The assembly secretariat has imposed restrictions on the media for the three-day session of the legislature, drawing criticism from the opposition Congress and JD(S).
An order from assembly secretary MK Vishalaskhi stated only Doordarshan cameras will be allowed to cover House proceedings — on the lines of Parliament. “Cameramen of private news channels and print media will not be allowed to cover proceedings inside the House,” the order stated.
While private news channels can downlink the feed provided by Doordarshan, the state information department will provide photographs to the print media, the order stated. Reporters are also banned from carrying mobile phones, tablets and other gadgets into the media gallery.

Firm on fielding disqualified MLAs in the upcoming by-elections, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa appointed eight BJP leaders who had sought tickets to contest the elections scheduled on 5 December, as heads of various boards and corporations.
The move is seen as an attempt to quell a rebellion by those in the saffron party opposed to the candidature of disqualified Congress and JD(S) MLAs from contesting on a BJP ticket.
However, soon after the list was announced, Sharath Bachegowda — who had unsuccessfully contested against Congress's disqualified MLA MTB Nagaraj — dealt a blow to Yediyurappa's plans by refusing the post as Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) chairman, and maintained that he would contest the by-elections.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has said that it will issue a fine of Rs 25 lakh against Reliance Jio Fibre after one of its vendors, Shranya Constructions, allegedly dug up a road in Sarjapur in Bengaluru without prior permission from the civic body.
“In the last week, vendor associated with Jio Digital Fiber breached rules of laying OFC (optical fibre cables) in Sarjapur Main Road by digging up the road without authorisation to lay cables. This has caused loss of public property and has caused inconvenience for residents and commuters,” BBMP said in a media release.
"Related to the current matter, Jio Digital Fiber Pvt Ltd will be issued a fine of Rs 25 lakh and [we] will take measures to blacklist the vendor involved in laying the cables", the release added.

A man from Bengaluru, who had gone missing while trekking to Kheerganga in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district on Saturday, has been found, police said on Wednesday.
A team, including personnel from the Manikaran police post and local rescuers, found Kaushik Venugopal at Tunda Bhoj on Monday, Kullu Superintendent of Police (SP) Gaurav Singh said. Venugopal joined his friend Aditya on Tuesday, he added. On Saturday, three trekkers had left for Kheerganga, located at a height of about 3,050 metres from the sea level at the extreme end of Parvati Valley, the police said.
Venugopal went missing on his way to Kheerganga, they added.

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday said it had filed a supplementary chargesheet in the I Monetary Advisory (IMA) Ponzi scheme in which scam mastermind Mohammed Mansoor Khan and his associates have been accused of duping investors of more than Rs 2,000 crore.
The chargesheet named cleric Mohammed Haneef Afsar Azeezi, 65, a maulvi at Masjid-e-Beoparian, Shivajinagar, and Khaleemulla Jamal, 40, a resident of Fraser Town, describing him as a close aide of the IMA founder and managing director.
The agency filed the supplementary chargesheet in a special CBI court on Saturday.
