The speed at which Salman Khan managed bail was not a violation but it could only have been pulled off by someone with the actor’s resources.
Former Attorney General Soli Sorabjee says it is not the superstar’s fault if his lawyers were quick. Speaking to Rajdeep Sardesai on Headlines Today, Sorabjee said, “if you have a team that works rapidly, there is nothing wrong with the system”.
But he also conceded that an ordinary person would probably not have been able to get bail with the same speed because he might not have access to the kind of resources that Khan does.
Noted criminal lawyer Satish Maneshinde chipped in too. “This is not unusual. Thirty two years ago when I started practicing law if the same sequence of events took place the bail is granted as a matter of right”, he said.
Former IPS officer and BJP member Kiran Bedi however stated that the signal that went out today is that “if one has money and power one will be able to secure such opportunities”.
