  • The Assam Assembly on Friday unanimously passed the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill , following its passage by both houses of parliament this month.

  • Finance Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted on Friday that Assam has become the first state to ratify the GST Constitutional Amendment Bill.

  • The Union Government is keen for the requisite 16 states to ratify the Bill to enable a rollout of GST by 1 April 2017.
