The Assam Assembly on Friday unanimously passed the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill , following its passage by both houses of parliament this month. Finance Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted on Friday that Assam has become the first state to ratify the GST Constitutional Amendment Bill. The Union Government is keen for the requisite 16 states to ratify the Bill to enable a rollout of GST by 1 April 2017. (Source: Zee News , Business Standard )
