Gulzar’s lyrics in the outstanding song, ‘Humko Man Ki Shakti Dena’ continue to motivate every listener to be more tolerant and accepting. Still sung in schools, this song from the Jaya Bachchan 1971 starrer-movie, Guddi, has been recreated by school kids from Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalaya from Panchwati in Andaman.
The song has had many versions throughout the years.
The video is shot very similarly to what happens in the movie. Both videos have similar set ups of school children singing the song with the teacher playing the piano. The tight-framed and static shots are also similar.
In the same genre as ‘Ae Merey Vatan Kay Logo’, this song has simple lines with a strong message.
This song was published on 15 August 2017, on India’s 71st Independence Day and is sung by Class 7, 8 and 9 students. This was their first video under the Film Orientation Course that is being promoted by the Film and Television Institute of India.
The school produced the entire video themselves. They worked on the shooting, editing and sang under the guidance of their course director, Ritesh Taksande.
