For Couple Fond of Travelling, Anand Mahindra, Twitter Plan A Gift
Anand Mahindra, in a tweet, expressed desire to crowdfund the next trip of tea-selling couple, Vijayan and Mohana.
Remember the tea-selling couple in their 70s, Vijayan and Mohana from Kerala, who went viral a few years ago for travelling to over 20 countries?
Well, they seem to have caught the eye of Anand Mahindra, Chairperson of Mahindra Group. And he is impressed.
On 9 January, Anand Mahindra posted a video of the couple created by travel video blogger Drew Binsky with a tweet that showed his admiration for the couple’s attitude towards life. He also added that he would drop by their tea shop next time he is in Kochi.
The video shows how Vijayan and Mohana save money from their modest earnings from the tea shop, and sometimes seek loans, to fund their journeys.
Most Twitter users responded in support of the idea with a lot of enthusiasm.
Some said that the couple might not accept such a gift, to which Mahindra replied:
Business magnate Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, chairperson and managing director of Biocon Limited, echoed Mahindra’s idea.
