BJP to Win & New Alliance To Fail In Chhattisgarh: ABP-CSDS Survey
Out of 90 seats in the state, BJP is projected to win 56 followed by 25 for Congress while ‘Others’ to bag 4 seats.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under the leadership of Raman Singh is likely to sweep Chhattisgarh polls as Congress’ vote share in the state will crumble due to recent alliance between Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Janata Congress, an opinion poll said on Thursday 8 November.
The survey was conducted by ABP News in collaboration with Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS) after consultations with over 14,000 people till the end of October.
The upcoming polls in Chhattisgarh for 90 Assembly seats will be conducted in two phases. In the first phase, the voting of 18 naxal affected areas of south Chhatisgarh will take place on 12 November while voting for the remaining 72 Assembly constituencies will be held on 20 November.
WHAT DID THE SURVEY PROJECT?
As per the survey conducted by ABP news, BJP will emerge victorious, defeating recently formed alliance between Mayawati’s BSP and Ajit Jogi’s Janata Congress and its bitter rival, the Congress party.
Out of 90 seats in the state, the number of seats for the BJP is projected at 56 (43%) followed by 25 (36%) for Congress while ‘Others’ that includes the Jogi-BSP alliance will secure 4 seats with 19% of the vote share.
In the 2013 election results of the state, the BJP won 49 seats, while the Congress bagged 39 seats followed by the ‘Others’ with just two seats.
SHIFT IN RESULT FROM AUGUST SURVEY
The ABP-CVoter survey conducted in August had predicted the defeat of BJP in Chhattisgarh.
In the August survey, the Congress was projected to bag 54 seats, followed by 33 going to the BJP. ‘Others’ were projected to bag 3 seats.

BSP supremo Mayawati on 20 September, in a press conference announced that the party would be tying up with Ajit Jogi's Janta Congress in poll-bound Chhattisgarh, with Jogi as the chief ministerial candidate of the alliance.
The news came as a setback to the Congress and the possibility of a ‘grand alliance’, for the states and Lok Sabha polls, between the two parties had come to an end.
Congress in a bold move, planted Karuna Shukla, niece of the late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Rajnandgaon constituency – home constituency of Chief Minister Raman Singh.
Meanwhile, Singh is seeking his fourth consecutive term after the conclusion of the state polls.
