Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has sought a detailed report from the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Ropar after an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA, Amarjeet Singh Sandoa, was allegedly attacked by the goons of mining mafia near Nurpur Bedi in Punjab’s Ropar district on Thursday, 21 June, reported ANI.
According the news agency ANI, Singh has also asked the Director General of Police (DGP) to ensure immediate arrest of the suspects.
He said the legislator was rushed to Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) at Chandigarh.
The AAP MLA's turban was tossed up during the attack and even two of his security personnel were thrashed.
Senior police officials of Ropar reached the spot where the incident took place.
Two officials including a forest officer were brutally thrashed by five to seven assailants with sticks and sharp-edged weapons on the night of 18 June when they intercepted a tractor-trolley near Seonk village in Mohali.
