AAP MLA Allegedly Heckled in Punjab’s Ropar, CM Singh Seeks Report

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has sought a detailed report from the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Ropar after an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA, Amarjeet Singh Sandoa, was allegedly attacked by the goons of mining mafia near Nurpur Bedi in Punjab’s Ropar district on Thursday, 21 June, reported ANI.

According the news agency ANI, Singh has also asked the Director General of Police (DGP) to ensure immediate arrest of the suspects.

“Sandoa was attacked by the goons of mining mafia,” AAP senior leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira, who is also the Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, told PTI.

He said the legislator was rushed to Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) at Chandigarh.

If this is the plight of the elected representatives who are also provided security, imagine what is the fate of ordinary citizens.

Senior police officials of Ropar reached the spot where the incident took place.

The latest incident comes three days after two employees of Punjab’s forest department were attacked by the sand mafiaso, even as four other officials had escaped with minor injuries.

Two officials including a forest officer were brutally thrashed by five to seven assailants with sticks and sharp-edged weapons on the night of 18 June when they intercepted a tractor-trolley near Seonk village in Mohali.
