As Uttar Pradesh reels under the brutal murder of a two-year-old girl in Aligarh, yet another incident has surfaced in which a 10-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Hamirpur on Saturday, 8 June, reported Hindustan Times.

The villagers who had gone to attend nature's call found the girl's bare body in the cremation ground on Saturday morning, according to Hindustan Times.

The villagers then informed the victim's father, who was working at a brick kiln when the incident occurred.

The father said later said that the child was sleeping next to her mother outside their house, in a village that falls under Kurara police area, before she disappeared, according to the police.

The father has alleged the girl was abducted in the night, raped and later murdered.

Enraged, the villagers who found the girl's body tried stopping police from taking it to the morgue. However, after talking to them and the girl's family, the body was taken to the morgue, police said.

SP Hamirpur Hemraj Meena said, Special Operations Group (SOG) and four other teams were working on the case.

"A panel of doctors at the district hospital was on standby for the post-mortem and the entire process would be videographed," Meena said, according to Hindustan Times.
