Mumbai, Feb 19 (IANS) Solar solutions provider Vikram Solar on Tuesday announced it has commissioned a 200 megawatt (MW) solar power project for the Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation.
The company, in a statement here, said the project, located in Anatapuramu district and which will power nearly 1.5 lakh homes once it is grid-connected, is divided into 2 blocks of 100 MW capacity each and is spread over 1,000 acres of land.
"The project is expected to produce 446 MU (million units) of energy annually and will reduce 210 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions in a year," it said.
"Vikram Solar will also carry out operation and maintenance of the plant for a period of 5 years from the date of commissioning."
Vikram Solar Chief Operating Officer (EPC) Kuldeep Jain said in a statement that the commissioning of the project involved dealing with multiple engineering hurdles including excavation of boulders and "non-availability of natural earth material for back filling."
"On the other hand, confusion surrounding GST rate applicability impacted cash flows, and implementation of Safeguard delayed delivery of modules," he added.
Vikram Solar, whose current annual solar PV module production capacity stands at 1,000 MW, said it installed 8.48 lakh such modules for the project.
