Give New EVMs or Allow Ballot Paper for Civic Polls: UP State EC

The EC says upcoming municipal polls cannot be held using EVMs from the 2006 batch due to technical faults.

• The Uttar Pradesh State Election Commission has written to the Election Commission to say upcoming municipal polls cannot be held using EVMs from the 2006 batch due to technical faults, reported ANI.
• The commission has asked the EC to either provide new EVMs or allow them to conduct municipal polls using ballot paper.
• The local body polls in the state will be held in July.
