Toxic Gas Leak Onboard Indian Navy’s INS Vikramaditya; Two Dead

One sailor and one civilian died on board INS Vikramaditya – India’s largest aircraft carrier – on Friday, at Karwar, Karnataka.

As per media reports, a toxic gas leak in the sewage treatment plant was the cause behind the incident.

Shipwright Artificer, Rakesh Kumar and Mohandas Kolambkar, an employee of M/s Royal Marine both succumbed to death after inhaling the toxic gas.

Two other personnel who had also inhaled the gas are now stable. Indian Navy has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
