The AIADMK on Wednesday decided to take on its principal rival DMK, which had been targeting the ruling party with allegations of corruption, by reviving the issue of the DMK’s “complicity” in the alleged massacre of Tamils during the final phase of the Eelam War in Sri Lanka in May 2009.
The ruling party would hold State-wide public meetings on September 25, highlighting how the DMK had “betrayed” the Tamils, Chief Minister and party co-coordinator Edappadi K. Palaniswami told reporters after a two-hour meeting of district secretaries and Ministers at the party headquarters in Chennai.

Justice Arumugasamy commission, probing the circumstances leading to death of former chief minister J, Jayalalithaa, has posed several questions to Raj Bhavan and the chief secretary in connection with reports sent to Central Government on the condition of Jayalalithaa while she was under treatment in Apollo Hospital.
A week after IAS officer, Ramesh Chand Meena, the then principal secretary to the then acting Governor, CH Vidyasagar Rao, appeared before the Commission, the Commission secretary posed several question to the Raj Bhavan to file its reply.
The commission asked the Raj Bhavan as to how many reports received from state government and Apollo hospital on health condition of Jaya while she treated in hospital. Whether such reports, if received, were submitted to the then Governor. If so whether he filed any reply. After visiting the Apollo hospital did Governor sent any report on the status of Jaya's health to Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi?

A public interest litigation has been filed in the Madras high court to direct the Election Commission of India to display the contesting candidates photograph, educational qualification, profession, assets and criminal cases in addition to the existing details displayed outside the polling station of all elections.
In his PIL, E Muralidharan, an academician and a voter from Mylapore constituency, submitted that the election reforms were the continuous process and each reform takes a step towards strengthening our democracy. As an election reform about a decade back, the ECI introduced the voters identification card to all the voters. This has largely prevented the bogus voting. In addition, the voter ID card serves as a proof of identity for the citizens in the country, he added.

In an effort that could go some way in preparing the people for any imminent threat arising out of the monsoon rains, the State Revenue Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Centre for Coastal Research, to know in advance about the condition and intensity of rains.
“This will help us to take precautionary measures as we would be in a position to know the intensity of rain 5 days ahead,” Revenue and Disaster Management Minister R B Udaiyakumar has said.
