Swacch Bharat Mission head, Vijaylakshmi Joshi has quit just before the project completes one year, according to a report on Economic Times.

The 1980-batch Gujarat-cadre IAS officer was appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation weeks before the project was launched in September 2014. Prior to that, she was a secretary in the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

She has another three years left in service but has asked for voluntary retirement fir personal reasons. Her application has been forwarded to the Cabinet Secretariat by Union Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Birender Singh Chaudhary.
