Shootout at Delhi’s Kakardooma Court, One Cop Killed

Investigations are underway for a fire opened by three men at the Kakardooma Courthouse in east Delhi.

One person was killed and three injured when unidentified persons opened fire inside the premises of east Delhi’s Karkardooma Court today. Head constable Ram Kumar, who was escorting a criminal Chenu Phelwan alias Irfan, succumbed to his four bullet injuries at a hospital. Irfan, a criminal from Seelampur, was the intended target.

An amateur video of the accused has been released.

The incident took place around 11:15 am when an undertrial was brought to court number 73, following which the unidentified persons, who were suspected to have been waiting to attack the undertrial, fired at least 10 rounds and fled, said a police official.

Among those injured were the undertrial and a home guard posted at the court.
