Shiv Sena’s Punjab unit on Tuesday stopped Muslim truck drivers on their way to J&K before intimidating them into chanting slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Pakistan Murdabad’.

If this wasn’t enough proof of their nationalism, the truckers were then forced to burn Pakistani flags to prove their loyalty to India. The ones failing to do so were beaten up, reports The Indian Express.

The Shiv Sainiks have claimed it was payback for the alleged harassment of Amarnath pilgrims by Kashmiri Muslims earlier this month.

In a statement, Shiv Sena’s Punjab chief, Rajiv Tandon said that the party wanted to pay back “Kashmiri Muslims” with the “right treatment” for what they did to the Amarnath pilgrims.

What they (Kashmiri Muslims) did to Hindu pilgrims on Amarnath Yatra has been done to them. We only asked Muslim drivers to say ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Pakistan Murdabad’.

The party has previously been at the forefront of the “ultra-nationalist” movement brewing in the country, which has seen members of the minority community being singled out and harassed into proving their loyalty to the nation.

An FIR has been registered against the Sena’s Punjab chief under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code in the matter.
