New Delhi, Dec 13 (IANS) Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot, who appears to have lost in the chief ministerial race, on Thursday appealed to his supporters to maintain peace and discipline and declared that he would accept the party's decision in the matter.
He issued the appeal on Twitter as reports emerged that senior leader Ashok Gehlot has been picked by the party leadership to lead the government and that his supporters were protesting on the streets demanding that Pilot should be made the chief minister.
While Gehlot was flying back to Jaipur along with the party's central observer K.C. Venugopal, Pilot decided to stay put in the capital. There could be a legislature party meeting in Jaipur where the name would be officially declared.
Both the leaders had met Congress President Rahul Gandhi to present their claims for the top post in the state.
"Friends, I appeal to all workers to maintain peace and discipline in the state. I have full faith in the party leadership. Whatever decision Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi will take in the interest of the state we will welcome that. We all are dedicated and sincere workers of the Congress and hence it is our responsibility to maintain its dignity," he said in his Tweets.
