The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is investigating the Pathankot attack, has also summoned Superintendent of Police Salwinder Singh on 11 January.

SP Singh was allegedly kidnapped by the terrorists on the night of 31 December before attacking the key air base on the intervening night of 1-2 January.

Pathankot SSP RK Bakshi said all vehicles and individuals in Pathankot and nearby villages and towns are being thoroughly checked as a precautionary measure.

A senior official of the Indian Air Force has said that the combing operation at Gurdaspur district’s Pathankot air base is complete.

However, Gurdaspur will remain on high alert in the wake of the reported sighting of two men in army fatigues on Wednesday in the nearby Tibri military station.

Seven security personnel were killed in the gunbattle between the terrorists and the security forces. Six terrorists were also neutralised during the operation.

The sanitisation operation had been going on for the last seven days, ever since the six terrorists were gunned down.

The operation to ensure that no terrorist was hiding was carried out jointly by the army, NSG and IAF’s Garud commandos.

Army is using drone helicopters to locate possible terrorists and pressed into service bullet-proof vehicles, officials said.

Army has installed flood lights and police is conducting door-to-door searches to flush out the suspected terrorists, they said.

The SWAT and dog squads are also assisting in the combing operation, officials said.
