The Congress has complained to the Election Commission over PM Narendra Modi’s roadshow in Varanasi, alleging that the PM and the BJP had violated Model Code of Conduct by not seeking necessary permissions for the event.

"The Prime Minister conducted a roadshow at Varanasi for about 7 km without the necessary permission from the competent authority,” the complaint said.

The complaint also states that the Prime Minister visited the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and the Kaal Bhairav Temple “without any requisite permission”.

The party has demanded that an FIR be registered against all the members of the BJP who were a part of the roadshow, including PM Modi.
