Two migrant labourers were detained and questioned by Kerala State Police in connection with the rape and murder of 29-year-old law student, Jisha in Ernakulam, on 28 April.

A Perumbavoor Deputy Superintendent of Police, Jiji Mon has been removed from the team investigating the case due to procedural lapses.

Jisha was found dead in her home with 30 wounds on her body and her intestines hanging out.

The student’s home in Perumbavoor, 200 km from the state capital Thiruvananthapuram, was cordoned off only on Tuesday, six days after the crime. A case of murder was initially filed but after disturbing details of Jisha’s body emerged, an additional rape case was filed as well.
