After chiding girls for drinking beer, Goa Chief Minister Manmohar Parrikar has now declared that the government would soon fine anyone who drinks alcohol in public.

According to an NDTV report, Parrikar said on Monday, 16 July, that the government will soon release a notification stating that a fine of Rs 2,500 will be imposed on public drinking.

Mind you, there will be a heavy fine if you are found drinking (in public) from August. We are issuing a notification very soon. I intend to do it before August, so that we can implement it from 15 August.

He also warned against littering the beaches with empty beer bottles, stating that the bottles thrown on the rocks along the river would put other people at risk, reported NDTV.

I have caught two-three college students going there with beer bottles. This is not done.
