Five militants were killed on Friday as the army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Gurez sector in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Srinagar-based Defence Spokesperson Lt Col NN Joshi said that the troops posted along the LoC intercepted the militants while they were trying to sneak into the Valley from across the border after midnight.

The spokesperson said four AK-47 rifles and Rocket Propelled Grenades have been recovered from the site of the encounter.

The identity of the slain militants has not been ascertained so far, the spokesperson said.
