Caught on Camera: Family Kidnaps Girl Who Eloped With Lover 

Twenty members of her family barged into the house when she was alone and kidnapped her.

A 25-year-old newly married woman from Chamarajnagar district, Karnataka was allegedly kidnapped by her family members on Wednesday.

CCTV footage shows a number of men dragging her through the parking space of a house and outside the gate. After she is taken out of the frame of the camera, some men are seen getting on to bikes and leaving the area.

The girl is yet to be found and the 20 people who are accused, are still at large.

The incident occurred at her husband’s home at Bhimanagar in Kollegal.

The accused have been identified. Her parents and other family members are behind this. We are looking for the girl and the accused. We have registered a case of kidnapping against over 20 people who are at the moment at large.

Spoorthi and Vinod , both from Dalit families, were in love for years before they eloped after the families didn’t approve of the match.

They eloped to Bengaluru on 6 May after which both their families lodged missing persons complaints. They later married after returning to Chamarajnagar.

Despite Vinod’s families accepting their marriage, Spoorthi’s family were unrelenting in asking her to return.

On Wednesday, 20 people barged into the house and kidnapped her when she was alone.

Investigation is still ongoing to find the girl.
