BSP MP Narendra Kashyap was sent to 14 days judicial custody, along with his wife and elder son Sagar, hours after being arrested for the murder of daughter-in-law Himanshi Kashyap, on Thursday.
Himanshi Kashyap (29) was found dead on Wednesday inside the bathroom of their house in Sanjay Nagar in mysterious circumstances on Wednesday morning. An FIR was filed against the lawmaker and his family members under the anti-dowry law.
Police said Himani got married to Sagar about two years ago. She was the daughter of Hira Lal Kashyap, a former Uttar Pradesh minister in the Mayawati government.
She was rushed to a hospital by her family where she was declared brought dead.
The deceased’s father, Hira Lal Kashyap, has accused the Narendra Kashyap’s family of murdering his daughter in cold blood and has threatened to file a case against them. He added that the MLA’s family frequently demanded cars and jewellery from him and that his daughter was unhappy and wanted to return to her natal home.
Narendra Kashyap responded to Hira Lal Kashyap’s allegations, saying that they were baseless.
Himanshi, the daughter of former BSP minister, Hiralal Kashyap, got married to Sagar two years ago and the couple has a one-year-old son.
