One of the Class XII students accused of murdering his teacher in a government school in West Delhi’s Nangloi, has been arrested and the other – a juvenile – has been apprehended, said the Joint Commissioner of Police.
The two students allegedly stabbed their teacher to death in front of their classmates on Monday after one of them was rusticated for low attendance.
On Tuesday, teachers held protests at the school and demanded strict action.
The victim, Mukesh Kumar, was rushed to Balaji Action Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning.
The incident took place around 5 pm when the students were writing an exam at the Government Senior Secondary School.
Kumar was stabbed thrice allegedly by the two boys in front of the entire class, after which the duo fled, a police officer said.
One of the accused was rusticated for low attendance. He had gone to the school to speak with Kumar.
Kumar’s colleague called the boys “criminal type.”
Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has reportedly announced financial assistance of Rs 1 crore to Kumar’s family.
