On Wednesday, 11 October, the Delhi police said that it will cancel around 400 temporary firecracker licenses and 150 permanent ones after the Supreme Court order. The police will also issue advertisements announcing the cancellation of licenses.

A bench of the apex court said on 9 October that its 12 September order permitting the sale of firecrackers would be effective only from 1 November.

Diwali is on 19 October and the order effectively means that no firecrackers will be available for purchase before the festival.
