Post JNUSU Polls, Drama Grips JNU as ABVP & Left Allege Violence
JNUSU said the administration is “actively helping ABVP to create an environment of terror, anarchy and chaos.”
Student organisations of Jawaharlal Nehru University clashed again on Tuesday, 18 September, where on one hand RSS-backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) alleged unprecedented violence by Left organisations, and JNUSU President from United Left accused the ABVP of openly abusing and threatening students on the other.
ABVP members on Tuesday, 18 September, alleged that they are facing “unprecedented violence unleashed by the Left organisations in JNU”.
“Several of our members are grievously injured and many have landed in hospitals with broken heads and limbs. It is clear that the murderous violence was premeditated, and was abetted by outsiders and Naxals who have infiltrated JNU and staying illegally with the Left students,” ABVP said in a statement.
The student wing affiliated to right-wing Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) has further accused the left-wing students of physically assaulting students by going room-to-room in a press meet held on Tuesday in Press Club, Delhi.
Varsity Warns Against Misinformation
Warning against misinformation and rumour mongering on the campus, university administration released a statement on Tuesday, stating that the “unfortunate incidents of confrontation and violence after the recently held elections to JNUSU have created an atmosphere of concern in an otherwise peaceful atmosphere of the university.”

Terming administration’s claims for taking steps to instill normalcy on campus as “absurd”, JNUSU President N Sai Balaji said, “In place of taking action against the culprits, the JNU admin, in the pretext of this ABVP hooliganism, has imposed a virtual emergency in campus.”
He added that the administration has started closing down dhabas after 8 pm, restricted entry of students post 10 pm in hostels, started harassing students in the name of ID checks, banning entry of media in campus, banning protests and campaigns.
