In a big boost to the economy and borrowers, the Reserve Bank on Tuesday cut interest rate by 0.50% and relaxed norms for home loan seekers. RBI reduced the key rate (repo) by 50 basis points from 7.25% to 6.75% with immediate effect.

We decided to do a word count of some of the most used words in the RBI Monetary Policy Statement. Clearly the words ‘markets’, ‘inflation’ were on Raghuram Rajan’s mind as they were used more frequently than words like ‘growth’ and ‘investment. And he made that clear when he said, “ I don’t know what you want to call me – Santa Claus or Hawk.... my name is Raghuram Rajan and I do what I do”.

The graph below highlights the most-used words excluding common English words.
