Sensex, Nifty Post Steady Stretch of Weekly Gains

Indian equity benchmarks registered their best week since November, after posting their longest stretch of weekly gains in over six months.

The Sensex on Friday, 15 March, was up 269.43 points at 38024.32, while Nifty was up 83.60 points at 11,426.90.

Earlier in the day, the Sensex touched the 38,000 mark for the first time since September, supported by healthy buying in the banking and finance stocks.

The Nifty on the National Stock Exchange touched 11,400 points after a period of six months. Gains in the major Asian markets also aided the rise in the Indian indices, IANS reported citing analysts.

Sensex on Friday opened at 37,760.23, while Nifty traded at 11,414.30 – higher by 71.05 points or 0.63 percent from its previous close.
